Authentic Indian Cooking

WE ARE
THE CURRY SHED

We have always loved food and festivals. And sheds.

Whilst eating our way around India we came up with a plan; to create fabulously tasty and truly authentic Indian food – and serve it from a shed.

After a couple of years of thinking, cooking, eating and building, The Curry Shed first appeared in a festival field in the summer of 2007.

Now here’s our secret: The Curry Shed is not actually a shed, but a marquee masquerading as a shed. From within we make and serve our generous plates of unusual and delicious food, and with our open plan kitchen you can see and smell all the magic happening.

The Curry Shed is a unique and interesting addition to a festival site. If you are a festival looking for high quality food outlets with personality, we are perfect for you.

We always wanted to make amazing food. Not quite sure now where the shed idea came from, but it kind of stuck.

Our Menu

All of our dishes compliment each other perfectly, and are served thali style so that you get a great mix of flavours.
All you have to do is decide ‘how hungry are you?’

Choose from 5 options:
Hungry like a mortal? – The Maharaja - choose 3 of our curries served with basmati rice and/or chapati plus mango chutney
Hungry like an Elephant God? - The Ganesh - Have all 5 curries served with basmati rice and/or chapati plus mango chutney
Hungry like a monkey? - The Hanuman Snack Bowl - A pakora, samosa and bhaji served with our own speciality date and tamarind chutney, and a mint and lime raita.
Hungry like a peacock? - Bhel Puri - A Mumbai street food classic, puffed rice, sev, roasted chickpeas, tomato, onion, coriander, lime, chutney and raita, a veritable flavour explosion.
Hungry like something that’s a bit less hungry than a peacock? - Dhal Bhat kids bowl - Basmati rice & lentil dhal

Our curries:
Paneer Butter Masala – Indian cheese in a rich creamy sauce
Cabbage Thoran – Southern Indian cabbage and coconut dish
Chana Masala – Spicy chickpeas with fenugreek
Dhal Fry – Lentils with fresh tomatoes and ginger
Baingan Bharta – Smokey aubergine in a rich tomato sauce

Help yourself to lime pickle, fresh chillis, and a sprinkle of coriander to your taste.

We also make;
Fresh yogurt lassis – sweet or salted
Our fantastic homemade spicy winter chai for those cooler festival nights.

Disclaimer

All of the curries at The Curry Shed are made from scratch on the festival site using recipes that we picked up on our travels in India, learning from local people in various environments from family homes to some pretty suspect kitchens in street restaurants.
Be assured that we attempt only to replicate the authentic tastiness of the food and not the state of those kitchens!!!
